Excuse me for derailing the thread but what exactly were you expecting from a 3D remake of the first Cossacks?

It's more or less the same game, if you didn't like the first game then why get this one?

Altho I agree with you that I really don't like merc/cav rushing and the blobbing up of forces without penalties (like in American Conquest with it's morale system or in Cossacks 2) but I got the game because of the promised developer tools for modding and an expanded game.

Well, look at Cossacks 2. Its gameplay is vastly different from the first. Its quite logical to assume that C3 would feature a change of gameplay of some sort.

It was stated that it would be an HD 3D sort of remake of the first game, exactly the same nations, gameplay, mechanics and whatnot, all modernized.

You have no one else to blame but yourself for not reading the back of the tin.

I'm sorry I was here in the forums before the game released and nobody was sure about the gameplay until the end... you maybe didn't like cossack 2 but you can assume musket fire system was good and realistic for example but they finally chosed to remake the exact same content as the old one with modern graphics, I really think it's a failure in terms of gameplay.

I certainly knew what i was buying beforehand so you should really try not to speak for the rest of the community when only you are part of the minority that didnt pay attention

I was here before the game released as well, but I knew what it was going to be after the first screenshots were released.

In beta they showed cinematics. With interesting cannon fire visuals , peasant making cannon in artillery depot. And in actual game you don't see this. Reminds me of Oblivion game demo trailer. Dark elf with rapsy voice and true dunmer face. And in actual game some "G4ys" voice and face like on coloring books for kids.

It's always like that, the trailer is meant to build up hype.

I so badly want to update this but can't find what in the latest patch is breaking it :(

Remember, September and the game's 1 year anniversary is just around the corner.

This doesn't really help you but it's just to get you excited for a possible other project.

That's why I've given up on Modding until everything is finished, if it ever will be, and of course if it will be worth it.:(

I see Lonely but Don't stop modding please. We should see new mods and more importantly talented people who create beautiful mods. But you are right. You cannot do something until the game is totally finished.

Maybe you can just not update the game and make mods for one version and when the game has been finished you will update your mods.

I wish it worked that way.

But the game automatically updates when you sign in. and everything you made is lost.

We have had a good balanced OC mod for months now, and every update breaks it.

Modding this game is like having a festering boil on your posterior. You never know when it is going to painfully break at the slightest change in its environment.

You can mod skins and textures. Concept art etc for new units , how they historically accurately could represent themselves. At worst u can use it to add to your mod 2-4 units. At best after finished game release could be smt like maddog unit pack. Which ppl and even other moders could use :) . Its ofc just suggestion. Eye candy anyways is just eye candy.

I'm afraid I find adding new units beyond national uniforms a pretty base way of trying to add playability to the game - mechanics which make every battle different I think are far more beneficial to the game's lifespan, something I wish the developers would see

The thing cossacks lacks here is diversity within a game. Where units could be so balanced that player could win 100 different ways just by using different tactics. Since art mechanics here are fckd up. What do we have? Mass muskets vs muskets with pikes as a meat and dragoons or hussars as raid/harass tactics. For example using stand ground formations is useless , having 100% upgraded 18c pikemen also useless. Balancing units is one thing , but gameplay still might remain the same.
Pikes will be cannon meat , musketeers = main force. Hussars will help muskets to cover from casualties and so on... I'm losing faith within a game as well :) . The game lacks positional warfare. Where you could slowly advance your enemy by building fortifications and stuff to prevail. And here u always rush like crazy! And that's all the game :-D
