    Been thinking about adding another Nation to my Mod.
    Thought about China, a bit extreme I know, but there is limited information on the time period and the models available don't really suit the Chinese.
    If anyone has any thoughts post them here, I know my Mod isn't the best but hopefully some people enjoy it.

    I don't want to disprove your venerable idea, but wouldn't be better to add something closer to Europe? I'm thinking about India (Maratha Empire or Confederacy, 1645–1818). It can have simillar units models as Ottoman Empire (Turks + Algeria) and it also has a little influence on Europe (at least on Turks by market I suppose, bewteen them was old Afghanistan and I have no knowledge about it). Good inspiration for this is classic Empire Total War, or just google "Maratha Empire soldiers", there is a plenty of inspiration.

    Or you can do tatar-like nation. Yutra model of buildings can be use since they already are in game. Units would be simple (archers, spearmen, cavalry: archers, spearmen + some lousy mercenaries). Uniforms are practicaly non-existing, just those brown-grey coats, black or dark red would be for officers. Cheap units, cheap buildings, no 18th century, just nation "for fun".

    Next idea is to recreate something from Turkey, they are represented quite as a tribe, no as a country. Ottoman Empire had way better architecture and it could have large scale of units from 18th century. Of course, balance this nation after addons is another think that should be done.

    BE AWARE that every time you want to do some kind of complex "project" like this means that only cca 50 % of your planned work will be done, and not by your fault. Some things are just too complicated or too problematic to solve and they can't be combined with meaningful release. If you will make your project too complicated, you will get stuck and never ending problem solving without any release of your country.

    ALSO. Make a detailed plan of your country on a paper. This will allow you then to work on PC without any problems like "I don't know what to do next". One you are on PC you CANNOT go back on paper. You will be looking at you monitor on unit models without any progress. Trust me, this happened to me and it will only delay your release.

    With this post I don't want to put your ideas down or sounds like "know it all" manager, but exactly opposite. Mabye you already know these things. I want you just to think twice before you will start any complex work. Think about how much work it will contain and mainly: that this project must be fun to do, and not only boring complicated post-processing.

    If I will get other ideas about units and countries, I will write it here. :)

    Thanks for your input Johny, I have the GOG version of C3 so do my test work on that, I had already added China on this with mainly Russian buildings and a couple of Units but thought better of it.

    Anyone who can make camel cavalry and war elephants gets my vote! :)

    Plus, I guess this could run into copyright issues but a Lord of the Rings or Dr. Who mod would be beyond awesome!. :D

    Imagine the great troops for a Dr. Who mod. Daleks obviously would be the equivalent of elite grenadiers. To throw grenades they spin and those black hemispheres come off them as grenades and immediately get replaced by new black hemispheres. Create beams of light for laser weapons. Nations? Humans, Galifreyans, Daleks, Cybermen, Ood and... Weeping Angels? How would they work? They only move when off-screen. Creepy! :p

    After giving it much thought and toying with continuing with China, I'm going to go with your suggestion of the Maratha Confederacy.:D

    Those models look excellent. I just wonder about the flag bearer. The hat doesn't look right. Also, the Maratha flag was plain green with a swallow tail (two points at the free-flying end) at least according to Wikipedia. The wheel with the 24 spokes in it is on the modern Flag of India and is a device selected by Gandhi and designed by Pingali Venkayya. The wheel depicts in stylized fashion a traditional spinning wheel, symbolizing Gandhi's goal of making Indians self-reliant by fabricating their own clothing. It is anachronistic to depict it on the Maratha flag but it does look cool and lets the player know who the Marathas were (being from the present day Indian state of Maharashtra).

    Oops, I need to correct myself.

    "The Ashoka Chakra is a depiction of the Dharma Chakra; a wheel represented with 24 spokes. It is so called because it appears on a number of edicts of Ashoka, most prominent among which is the Lion Capital of Ashoka. The most visible use of the Ashoka Chakra today is at the centre of the Flag of India (adopted on 22 July 1947), where it is rendered in a navy blue colour on a white background, replacing the symbol of charkha (spinning wheel) of the pre-independence versions of the flag." - Wikipedia.

    Thanks for the input Ftoomsh, so is it the right flag or not, I always have a choice of two flags for the Standard Bearer so I could use the one you suggest, as opposed to the current Indian flag which I was going to use. About his hat, I'm open to suggestions.:)

    It's not historically the right flag but it is still good for a number of reasons. The right flag is plain green with a swallow tail (two points at the free-flying end). But that is rather tame and dull and you might not be able to do the swallow tail (two points at the flying end). Your choice of the gold Ashoka Chakra (the wheel) is quite good actually. It has a lot of historical resonance for India and even for the Maratha. It will help the player get the feel of "India". The gold wheel is good too because it is different from the navy blue wheel on the modern Indian flag. It gives a more timeless historical feel because of that.

    It's hard to find pictures but for the flagman a turban like that of the hillman but all in white, or all brown or all red would be best. That's just my guess. I'd say some kind of turban for sure. Anything but that hat! :)

    I agree about the turban, but unfortunately the one thing you can't change on a model is the hat:mad: and not having Johnys technical skills I can't change the models.:(

    A bit of a wish list for my mod, but a bit beyond my ability:-

    1. A better A.I.
    2. Artillery Crew for the Cannons.
    3. Different movement speeds for the Infantry formations:-
    Column = Normal speed.
    Line = Half speed.
    Square = None allowed.
