Thank you again. If you don't find anything. You're welcome. I thought that palanka means palisade. But I have to sure. Ottoman made this type of earthwork with wood and earth. I've found Turkish explanation but not enough for me. On the other hand I've wanted to ask you to Palanka mean to learning two sides point of views. Maybe they made the palisade was cheaper than fort or fortress. That's my answer. Your videos are very useful for me. I've learned new things for old wars, war formation, sieges and counter sieges other specific subjects.

What do you think about Magyar units in the game? Developers have forgotten some units. Like Kuruc. Pandours, Mounted Pandour. Cossacks Back to war has two fast cavalry. But I liked Hussar in the game. Hajduk is also good. I haven't tried Szekely or Grenzer troops. I've finished all the new campaigns. Hajduk in the wood is so deadly:)) But when they come in the open field. They've lost the battle again and again. As you said before. By the way Pandour is a real Magyar unit or not?
Szekely= Cossacks Back to War pandour
    Hussar+ Ligh Cavalry= Mounted Pandour+ Kuruc
Hajduk= Cossacks Back to War Hajdu
    That's my opinion:))

I am satisfied with the hungarian units. Yeah, Kuruc is a forgotten unit, but in real, it was not a unit. Kuruc were the people who fought in the Rákóczi War of Independence. So there was Kuruc Hussar and Kuruc Infantry (Talpas).

Grenzer, Pandur and Mounted Pandur did not get into the game. It was a request from the hungarian community. Why? Pandur was not a militiary unit in Hungary (they were policeman). Point of interest: in these days, policeman called pandúr (but it is not the official name!).

Historically, Austria got pandour units in the seven years war. They had a lot of policeman or light infantry? Hungarian mean could be policeman.Maybe Austrian mean is different. Pandour Slovak unit ? Trench pandours are policemen? I played in Hungary in Cosssacks Back to War with a lot of policemen:))That's so interesting. I learned a lot of things in the forum. Thank you Can you give me an information about Talpas? What are with the differences of hajduk? Are they good units or ordinary one? I think both of them were foot soldier. Developers said Grenzer were in the game in the announcement. But We met Szekely:)) Yeah Hungarian has good units in the game. I liked them. In the future I hope Developers can add Kuruc, Talpas and other specific units for Hungary. Thank you for Hungarian community to correct the mistakes.

The "pandúr" was NOT a Hungarian military unit, it only functioned as a policing force in the hungarian territory. The "militiary" pandurs were from an Austrian and Croatian origin, and they served on the south borderline. As with the grenzers, these units also harassed and persecuted the Hungarian population.

From the English version of Wikipedia: "The Pandurs were a skirmisher unit of the Habsburg Monarchy, raised by Baron Franz von der Trenck following a charter (German: Werbepatent) issued by Maria Theresa of Austria on 27 February 1741, permitting Trenck to raise a 1,000-strong troop. The unit was largely composed of men enlisted as volunteers from areas of the Kingdom of Slavonia and Slavonian Military Frontier, consisting of ethnic Croats and Serbs. The Pandurs saw military action in Silesia, Bohemia, Bavaria and France."

"The Pandurs earned a reputation for being brave and audacious, as well as feared and ruthless soldiers, looting and pillaging, but also characterized by disobedience, breaches of military discipline and stubbornness."

Hungary, although part of the Habsburg monarchy, also had it's own military types of units (hussars, border patrol regiments, noble guards). There were times however, when pandúrs were marched together with the Hungarian regiments, the Austrian officers pull them out after combat. Sadly the universal history lumped the Austrian, Croatian and Hungarian armies together.

    Picture about Talpas:

The name Talpas is mean Footmen. They were light infantry. It was forged from the poorer layer.

I see exactly. Pandour was not a Hungarian military unit. Hungarian Border patrol regiments like Hussars? Mounted or foot soldiers? Cossacks Back to war got a enormous mistake then. I knew Noble guard are mounted. But All regiments- Hungarian, Croat and others- fought like an one body. That'what make a difference against Turkish Armies. Austrian Hungarian soldier name labant? Labant opposite of Kuruc?

Beautiful pictures:)):D:p:p;) Gyalogos mean gunner? Lovas mean cavalry? Dorobant mean Romanian infantry? Why did Hungarian community request to add Kuruc and Talpas units for Hungary or Hungarian units for Austria? They are very important I think. I don't blame you just thinking about this matter. Npeter, If you answer my question made a trouble for Hungarian forum, just tell me I can give up asking question for you. I 'm sorry for this situation. I haven't realized it. Hungarian forum turned to English forum:)) My purpose is just learning. Knowledge is power:))

    Not exactly.

    Gyalogos, Talpas = Footman, Infantrly
    Lovas = Cavalry
    Lövész, puskás = Gunner

Darabont (Dorobant in romanian) is a hungarian type of infantry. They served in the militiary as Infantry in the 16-17th century, then served the Justice as armed servant (other name was county or city hajdú). Nowadays hungarian darabont is the Parliament Guard.

The unit type comes from Hungary, Romania only took over.

Point of interest: Darabont is a word of unknown origin. According to some perceptions, the word is Hungarian, according to other concepts German or Slavic origin.

I do not quite understand you. The Hungarian community asked for the addition of Talpas and Kuruc.

Thanks for good explanations. Do you have any information about Labanc soldier? How did they attitude Hungarian people during the Kuruc rebellion? Do you think Kuruc Talpas infantryman is show bad performance against Labanc one? I thought that because they are armed with poorly.

Labanc is not exactly a unit, it's an expression like Kuruc. Kuruc was the patriot hungarian and the opposite was Labanc - austrian soldiers and hungarians traitors. It could have happened that Labanc was Hussar, Pandour, Skirmisher or something else.

The Western Hungarian people were rather labanc than the Eastern Hungarians.

Yeah, Talpas is a poorly armed soldier, but the hungarian people can fight and fought for the country. Btw. if you are a skilled soldier, you can easily kill an unskilled armored "soldier" with just a knife.

Ooo!!! Very good explanation again. But If you don't fight well what do you do? People in Hungary has brave people but If you don't have weapon, skill and other important things how did they withstand Austrian well-organized army? Did they use guerilla tactics during the period of Kuruc time? I don't understand that why did Western Hungarian support Austria against eastern Hungarian? Both of them are Hungarian, aren't they? It's like a civil war.

Rákóczi War of Independence takes years between 1703 and 1711. It was a 8 years. But in this 8 years, there was just a few battles. Kurucs most of the times was defeated in open field battles. So Kurucs used guerilla tactics, raiding and small group attacks against Labancs. Most of the Kuruc army consisted of lightweight cavalry (hussars). There wasn't enoguth Infantry (talpas) and artillery, who could siege a fort.

It is not was a civil war, because the enemy was the Habsburg Monarchy, but they had many western hungarian supporters.

And why support? The key is nearness and fear. Habsburg Monarchy was az empire with great power. Unfortunately, this key is remained at lest the second world war. The Nazi Germany was near, the Alliances could'nt (and DIDNT ) help Hungary, if hungarians fight against Hitler...

I see. Fear and nearness. But almost same situation fight against Ottoman Turkey nearly every Hungarian merge against common enemy. Enemy are near by. That's what I don't understand. They could help with Kuruc fighter secretly or they could deny fighting against their citizens. Maybe they could I'm not a historian. I've said civil war Hungarian support Austrian fight against Hungarian fighter for freedom. Just a phrase:)) I want to learn Rakoczi War of Independence can you give me more information about this subject? I heard that Rakoczi want to help Ottoman Empire against Austria. True?
