Hello. Will be Cossacks3 available through EarlyAccess or anything like that? I want it! I have all GSC games on CDs and at Steam too! I wait Cossacks3! ;(
Hi, thank you for your interest in our game! We will do our best in developing Cossacks 3. As for now we are not planning to go in the Early Access. But there will be beta test, so you will definitely get on board before the release
O-M-G!! Cossacks REMAKE! Best news I've heard in months, spent over 5k hours with EW,AoW & Back to War! Love the screens so far, where/when can I pre-order?
Wow this is fantastic news; thank you guys for making it ! I literally couldn't believe it when I heard the news. I also played Cossacsks (Back To War) from about when it appeared, and I'm still playing it quite regularly. It's the only game I play* and it really is the best RTS ever made. Thank you once again and I can't wait to play it ! * besides Warband
I am pumped! I hope this game sells millions! I love the Cossacks games! Maybe if this does well, some STALKER in the future! Hah!
One of many friends that I used to play this game with, sent me the news! This is really wonderful. We had so much fun playing Cossacks.
Oh my god, Cossacks is back! Only two games are grown in my heart and will stay there forever: Cossacks and Metal Gear Solid.
I hope Cossacks 3 can fill in the hole that we have in the RTS world right now. There's really barely anything. The old starcraft, which i believe the gameplay is just to fast now, and that's about it.
The revival of big unit count Cossacks will revive the RTS genre. Other RTS games are have small unit limits so they are really RTT (Real Time Tactics) not RTS. With large unit counts and large formations (hopefully with good formation bonuses, the game will be about troop movements, formation placement and overall positioning... then the mayhem of great battles. Infinite queues mean you don't have to click to make every soldier. We all know other games where you have to click to make every soldier and click on every squad to micro the behavior of every soldier. The player who can click 600 times a minute wins. We won't mention those games, they are not for us. Go Cossacks 3!
I believe that it will definitely fill the gap that RTS has right now, but I don't agree with you that the other games were Real Time Tactics. In Age of Empires there were 8 players with a limit of 200 units. That means 1600 units on screen, which is a lot for a physics engine in 2005. Starcraft could do more units that the limit they have. Not making them is a choice. In my opinion for example the total war games are nowhere as real time tactics as the AoE or SC games because the later required more control of your army and, well the economy which is another story. Anyways I agree that it will be a great hit on the genre, but i wouldn't go as far as not calling AoE and SC real time tactics (RTT). I would call Metal Gear Solid RTT.
Yes, it's a judgement call what to call RTS and what to call RTT. It depends on one's perspective. I have found that at least 500 to 1,000 mobile units per player (not counting buildings, fixed weapons and peons/peasants) is needed to move a game into the zone of what I would call RTS. But preferably, one needs at last 4,000 mobile military units to make a real RTS. That's just my opinion of course. I've played games (Cossacks OC Mod) with armies up to 5,000 strong in formations. After that, smaller RTS just don't cut it for me anymore. The interesting thing is that with 5,000 units and large formations you could have your main army in about 20 formations counting a few artillery lines. So you are not individually managing 5,000 troops, just 20 formations plus scouts and guards. Yet, it can be very challenging to position these 20 formations correctly for a battle against a good opponent.
One of the reasons i loved Command & Conquer back in the day was because there was no population limit. If you had the resources you could build as many units as you liked. I remember when i first got Cossacks European Wars, i was blown away by the size of the armies on the field. It was by far my absolute favourite RTS series of my childhood. Now as old man, i have no doubt Cossacks 3 will become one of my most loved RTS games. I cannot wait.
