I have been asked to create a FAQ list. I realize that most of us have a list of 20 - 30 questions that we would like to ask. But my challenge to you is to limit it to only 2 questions. This way we can get the best response for the highest number of fans. If you could please make then short and to the point. Try to limit your question to no more than a couple of sentences. You are asking a question, not trying to prove your point in a debate. Please respect the post of others, this is to gather a list of questions, not to debate them amongst ourselves. Hopefully, in time we can get many of them answered. Good luck, and remember just your most important 2 questions. Daddio
i know you said 2 questions but these arent questions just suggestions allow alt -tabing without losing the game instantly Window mode Better random maps/create pre made maps Support different screen res. in old cossacks there were very few options for resolutions
Q1 - Will we see Cossacks 3 released on GOG as well as Steam (many others and myself would like to see this!) Q2 - Apart from new graphics, what brand new features are you adding to Cossacks 3 to entice the veteran players back to the same game?
1. -What will definitely change in the gameplay? 2.-Which ideas/suggestions -mentioned until now you will definitely not implement?
GSC can you tell us more about the Cossacks 3 engine, how does it differ from the original dmcr engine, have you started from scratch or have you used code snippets from dmcr v1.0 & v2.0? And how are units & buildings rendered for the game, this question relates to modding and how modders will create new units and buildings?
Q1. How many new units per nation will they be or roughly? Q2. Which is the best ideas/suggestions you seen so far from the forums?
What changes/improvements have been made to combat, in regards to formations, collision, unit behavior etc?
Will Cossacks 3 feature any nations that were not in the originals ? Will Cossacks 3 have improved sound effects or can we expect many of the original sounds to be recycled?
1. Shell: how is it going to be with the multiplayer mode? Two parallel shells, one for those having original cd-key, very fast dead and second more popular but buggy for all having a copy of a game?
2. Will good and popular mods be supported and distributed (e.g. Steam, www of GSC) officially by GSC? That would be some kind of free gift to the society and for those who do not want to buy an add-on. And all will have easily accessible mods with not so many bugs etc.
1. Will you create achievements for the game? 2. Will players be able to invite their friends to the lobby using Steam?
Will the game be more like Cossacks Back To War or Cossacks II ? Personnally, I was a huge fan of the original series but got disappointed by the economic mechanism in Cossacks II.
For me the appeal of C1 was its many options. I was a fan of the PT time allowed games. My questions, 1. will there still be the same options that we had in C1? 2. Are there any additions, or new fetchers in the options for C3?
My questions; 1. Will all current C1 BTW game start options still be available? In particular I think it is vitally important to keep 2x size maps for a large game with up to 10,000 units per player. 2. Can we have larger formation options? In particular we need battalions (approx 400 to 600 troops). And can we have a fully working option of grouping formations into armies where the formations all stay correctly aligned after an advance? (OK, I know I squeezed a lot into two questions.)
I would like to see formations with a standard bearer carrying the flag of the represented country such as, say, Britain. And then a second flag bearer with a regimental flag. Now, when I say regimental flag I mean a flag that represents the unit type, such as a famous grenadier regiment, not like just any flag. This is what I mean, http://www.battleships-cruisers.co.uk/product.php?ProdID=1006 I would also like to see a drummer and a fife player along with various music such as is the HEW mod for the British where you can here the fife music, not just the drum beating. Here is an example even if it comes from a movie that isn't 100% accurate. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/UbpLx8ucBMs/maxresdefault.jpg Now I understand that this wouldn't work with small formations like 16 and 32 men, but 72, 120 and up, I think this would be feasible. What do you guys think? Me
I agree. These extra units add realism along with marching music, battle music etc. If some morale system is added (not that I am arguing for it) then standards have a role to play. Rally round the flag and all that old chaps. It's well worth looking at the battle scenes in Sergei Bondarchuk's movie masterpieces War and Peace - Tolstoy, and Waterloo. Actually a number of the title / preview scenes in C1 were copied from Bondarchuk's movie of War and Peace. Battle scenes need smoke and chaos too. It's very unrealistic to have neat battles.
If it's going to be on Steam, and there is going to be mod support, will we get Steam Workshop? Cossacks with overhaul mods might make perfect platform for medieval, or fantasy mods(like Warcraft-style with Cossacks gameplay ).
