Check Steam forums to see thousands of complains.

They probably gave those Youtubers a free key. So they will review it. And post it on Youtube. That's how you do marketing these days for video games.
Plus every big video game website will do a review of it and talk about it.
    People will know.

Is it too hard to understand that they want to show only a finished and polished version of the game ?

If it's still to unfinisished to show some gameplay, it shouldn't be released this month.

Whenever you think it's finished and polished, you start beta and suddenly dozens/hundreds problems occur. From that point you need like 2 weeks of beta, then 1-2 months to fix problems.

But the problem is, with release in next 17 days, you won't be able to do it.

And if I think about games I was part of beta, NONE game was ready to release (balance, bugs etc), so I don't belive C3 will be ready product without week or two with beta and with another month to clean mess which occured becasue devs cannot test the game as well as thousands players, no matter what.

All I am saying is that some company s are very good at hype and PR.

This has never been the case with GSC.

In fact from the time I have been failure with them, this is by far the best they have done in the PR department.

They have always put their head down and worked on the games. this time is no different.

Let just hope that their finished product is as good as the other past efforts have been.

For me that is the one true test!

    Good gaming all!

Is this a joke? Are you suggesting that two weeks before release date the game is not polished? What? They are going to do some magic ritual in two weeks and make it polished? I don't think that's how game development works and I have a little bit of experience. Youtube reviews will not give this game enough people, most youtubers watch videos of content that they already know about, most of the youtube that Cossacks team will reach are not even relevant youtubers, plus you never give keys to youtubers the day of release, you are suppose to give youtubers access to the game before release so they can get people hyped enough to pay for game when released. You wan't to capture as many people as you can before release date so that sales can peak at release date or otherwise your game will no longer be relevant as a new game.

I have said this before. The only reason this system they are going for will work is if they are planning on releasing the game with mayor updates overtime that will be advertised much better than now (like expansions, modding support packs, or campaigns DLC packs). This way they can afford to not advertise as much now and live off the money they make from their already establish customers so that they have enough to launch a proper advertising campaign for the game using the money they made from their established customers. Then they will hopefully call the attention of a wider crowd with the already released content plus the new DLC or packs. This is the only thing that makes sense for the way they are handling things. This will justify not needing a Beta or pre-order and not having a gameplay video. It will all make sense, because they can focus all their energy and the money they earn into advertising their new DLC.

You are misunderstanding. What I mean is that they give you nothing to complain about. From the Screenshots to the Videos, it's perfect, finished and polished.

But still everyone is complaining because they think the way other companies do marketing is right, even though most of the time it just generates hate from its playerbase because of false advertising (AKA No Man's Sky : most OBVIOUS example).
Do you see the problem ? They do heavy marketing, people cry < after release > ; they do light marketing, people cry < before release >.

Therefore I don't mind them doing just a bit of advertising before release because no one will have high expectations and shouldn't be disappointed if the game is not bugged.

    Moreover :
    • As I mention it everyday, there will be a gameplay video before release.
    • There are already doing marketing, many game news website talked about it, and keep talking about it as new images/videos are coming.
    • If you think Youtubers have no impact on game sales, you are completely wrong, otherwise explain why does many companies send free game keys to Youtubers ?

But i feel strongly that game will release on time this time.

Obviously they have made a definite date, and not just a time period. And testing is being done on line.

I do worry about the lack of beta testing. But they must fell pretty secure with the finished product to release without it.

So I am excited, and hopeful for a smooth release, and getting back into late night games, clans, and new friends!

Nothing to complain about??? Where have you been? You can't just come to the forums the last few days and say everything has been great. [Edit: Oh I see you are about 1 month old here.] You realize that by now they have said more than 4 different dates that they have changed, including release dates, warship screenshots, pre-order date. They have changed so many times that I expect that the release date will also be delayed. You cannot be seriously saying that there is nothing to complain about. Some of us has been here from the very beginning putting our time into discussion and support for the community and we have been let down plenty of times. Even in this forum they didn't put in proper protection from spammers so we had massive spam every week that led to the deletion of some of the best discussion in the forums.

No marketing doesn't lead to complaining before game release, it leads to no player base and people complain because this may ruin the multiplayer experience. Recently the game Act of aggression had a similar problem just not as bad as Cossacks 3. The only reason you mention No Man's Sky is because you know about it thanks to its marketing while Act of aggression you probably didn't even know it existed due to its marketing and now the playerbase is so small multiplayer is not worth it. Notice how this game is very similar to cossacks in that it is a reboot of an old series and takes very similar approach to everything GSC is doing with Cossacsk 3 in terms of marketing and even the "remake of the game".

Regardless of advertisement if the game sucks I will be disappointed the same applies the other way. Those two things are not correlated. I think you didn't analyse the No man Sky problem correctly. The reason No Man Sky sucked is because they advertised stuff that wasn't in the game. What we are asking from Cossacks is not advertisement of the world of Cossacks that isn't in the game, read the comments before you compare. What we are asking for is a simple game-play video of what already is in the game.

    Moreover :
    • There is no way of telling what will happen before release date.
    • There are very few game website talking about it, only websites that are mostly relevant to people in Ukraine and related countries. A few interviews from companies outside Russia/Ukraine ( 1 or 2) The main problem is that they are now starting to show up in website like IGN where they should have been a long time ago. They are doing better now but they are a bit late.
    • I never said Youtubers have no impact on game sales, I said that the youtube reviews that they are appealing to will not give them enough recognition as most of the important people that bring crowds into gaming are not doing videos on Cossacks. Also alowing them to play the game right before release date will not change much. There is a huge difference between a famous youtube gamer personality and a gamer on youtube with more than 1000 subscribers. Check out the actual statistics:

    Nope I didn't. I've only read September 20th.
That's a goodthing, I will not change my opinion on that. There is no reason for preorder other than having a day 1 playerbase.
If they changed the release date yes, but the advertised Release Date never changed. (more about it later)
Warship screenshot, you wanted them and you got them, what's wrong ? Do you wanted them earlier ?
As a programmer, this forum has Captchas, if bots can pass it I have no clue whatsoever on how to protect it more without annoying the sh*t out of the users.
A playerbase can grow. It does not only shrink.
    And :
As of right now, this game has way less news post about it than Cossacks 3 on those 3 popular websites : Rock Paper Shotgon, PCGamer and Polygon.
So first of all yeah, it can impact multiplayer day 1. But I'm gonna be a bit optimistic, it's less likely to have server issues day 1 for C3 :)
About NMS : I did not bought No Man's Sky because I knew it was just about the money, and they nailed it. I'm sorry but people who bought it are just pure victims of marketing. In the trailers it was obvious that it was not real gameplay, fake graphism, everything was scripted, planets were prepared etc. I told my friends not to buy it, result : 63% dislike on Steam, for this year top seller Steam game, it talks by itself.
The best marketing in 2016... one of the most hated game.
It's Capitalism, everyone is here for the money. Rare are the companies here for the players.
I'd like to believe in what you are saying, but in my opinion this is just the wrong.

Look at a game : Battlefield One, Good Marketing, Good Game (it's all about the tastes), even though the gameplay never change, no one can deny how the game looks good, how the gameplay is fluid etc, it's polished and finished.
But 60 USD + 50 USD Season Pass + Micro Transations.

When I'm on the forum I feel like people want to see TV ads of the game. But it's only a 20$ game and you should be thanks-full for that, the low price is, as the devs have stated, here to have the biggest playerbase as possible, simplyu because they are plenty of people who not buy pricy games.
Exactly. That's why I said "...if the game is not bugged."
The game should not be disappointing because it's a remake. So in theory, if you liked C1, you will like C3, that's how it supposed to be. But yeah, it's always possible to ruin everything :p
Gonna quote myself : "They are already doing "soft" marketing since early 2016. Source Source Source"
If you are only asking for a video, that's completely ok :) we'll get a video before release, don't worry.

About Youtube, If I understand your Link it says 35% of the players discover their games from videos. So just by doing this they reach 35%, then Steam will do it's part (New Release / Recommended Game etc.), then News Websites will do their job as they are already doing.

Ok, I'm gonna be optimistic now :
Imagine the marketing : a week or 2 before release, the titles on many news websites : "Cossacks 3 Shows Epic Gameplay"
People getting hyped as f*ck, and they will not forget about it.

We'll see how it goes, only time can tell, but I'm far from being scared for the future of this game.
What could ruin it is the performances and the bugs. For the performances they said the game was able to run on a 3 to 5 yo computers... a year ago.

I think the GSC can handle the performence part. They don't use a lot of modern effects other games use today. Because they want optimal performance.

What I am more worried about is the balance of the game. They wrote that they coppied nearly all stats from the old game. And when they lowered the effectivness of howitzers and multibarrelguns, the game could be even more unbalanced than before.

They recently gave these info about formations :
    • Formations of melee units have +2 attack and +3 armor. +9 both attack and armor in "defend position" mode.
    • Formations of ranged units have +2 to fire power and +3 armor. +2 to fire power and +9 to armor in "defend position" mode.

This alone will not be enough to counter the super power nations of Cossacks 1. The Ukrainian Super-Serdiuk and the Chuck Norris-Hetman can not be stoped with +9 armor. The super fast breaded Prussian Clone-Husar and his Ultra-Mega-Firepower brother the 18th century muketeer are also still a serious threat to any "normal" soldier. :D

    Balance Issue evidence:

Dudes I am joking, please don't take this to seriously. :p

Yes, that was clear C1 balance issue evidence. :p
One Chuck Norris prototype Ukraine Hetmane kill several Winged Hussars. Devs ignored real facts that Polish Winged Hussars were the bravest and strongest cavalry in 17th century. They breavely won so many great battles, beating various foes at that times e.g. Kirholm 1605, Klushin 1610, Khotin 1621, Berestechko 1651, Vienna 1683.

Lets somebody show me similar cases in real history for Ukrainian Hetmanes or Serdiuks. :D

This clearly shows that C3 balance require more changes for units stats, squads, formations and nations characteristics.

Announced cosmetic changes as like Serdiuks in squads and few formation bonuses are not enough.

Here you are some more exampels for needed improvements

    1. All the same fire arms ranges for all muskets, Serdiuks, Janissaries and Dragoons can not out shot Musketeers.
    2. Archers fire arrows and grenadiers hand grenades can not destroy so easy stone buildings, delimit this stats.
    3. Artillery little bit longer cannon round shot, lighter canister shot, much poorer artillery accuracy at long range.
    4. Bayonets bonuses should be lowered, infantrymen with bayonets can not so easily kill charging cavalrymen.
    5. Big bonuses for cavalry charges on disorganized, static and running enemy units.
    6. Bonus for infantry hollow suqare formation in defence against cavalry charges.
    7. Grenadiers longer creation time, these were not commonly met, big, tall and in many cases experienced soldiers.
    8. Ships friendly fire could inflict some losses, these should prevent ships from shot through another friendly ships.
    9. Stronger big battleships hulls should prevent small ships from engagements against much stronger ships of the line.
    10. Worse all fire arms accuracy at long range, maybe it will be possible include known from C2 different demage zones.

There could be more balance and units stats issues, these above are only evident issues known from C1 game.
