    I know that C3 has yet to come out, but I have asked that we could start a new section of the forum devoted to mods.

    Modding can take many different tact's, from a simple unit addition, to a full blown rework into a completely different game direction. and everything in between.

    We are all aware that the new game C3 will be based upon BTW. So initial discussions I would suggest be on improvements to that game. Of course the developers have stated that they will take care of any bugs, so I would steer clear of bugs. and work on animation, and or game play changes.

    There are already some discussions that are on-going at this moment, and in time I will move them to this forum. If you have something you would like added, please PM me so as to not clutter up our new forum with personal request.

    I want to do mods for Cossacks 3 so much that already I have my fingers itch!

    Mini mods:
    Artillery crew mod
    Standard bearers mod
    Flutists mod
    Wagon camp mod

    Global mods:
    Supply ammo and food mod
    Napoleonic wars mod
    and so on...

    Brilliant, a modding forum.

    With the greatest respect to the base the game that the developers are making the aspect I am most looking forward to is having a base from which to create mods. I am eager to get to grips with the map editor and to start making 3D battle maps and then, hopefully, mods.

    There is going to be a period where I am going to have to learn how to mod (which I did for ACFB by following the tutorials that others had given and adding lots of perseverance). This forum will enable me, hopefully, to get advice and share hints and tips with others to understand modding C3.

    Yes, you are right, if we gona made mod subforum and joign more modders, we'll need tutorials how to mod Cossacks 3. Now how we gona get it? We we'll make mods and wright tutorials ourself.

    As it was said before, the developers will provide modding tutorials.

    Yes I hope so, of course 3D modelling and animating is something that you have to learn yourself depending on what program you are using (all those programs have detailed tutorials to follow) but in terms of the game a step by step guide as to how to get an animated unit into the game and alter the parameters etc would be invaluable. But for the tutorials and guidance of others I would not have been able to do it so if the developers are able to offer guidance than that would be even better.

    Speaking from a clan perspective, there is an inherent problem with mods AND VARIOUS ITERATIONS OF THE GAME.

    Our clan back in the day, was Old Cossacks. We were a huge group, spanning from Asia and Australia to Europe and North and South America. We generally had 100+ active members playing Cossacks only. We would log on, especially starting on a Friday evening and lasting through Sunday and be able to play any one of three or four active Multi-Player games forming at the time for clan members. Then, the developers started making spin off games, which caused a bit of a rift amongt members. Some wanted to play the original and some wanted the new releases. It was fine until there were so many new games out in the series that clan cohesiveness suffered.

    As to game modifications, what is going to be needed for multiplayer use are one or two very, very good modifications that will be widely accepted by the gaming community, lest people lessen their multiplayer use and go to AI play using their favorite mod.

    This has been discussed plenty of times. The old methods for implementing mods are outdated and no longer used. Think of a mod as a plug in. You can play with the vanilla version with anyone one in the world. If you want to play the mod, you simply load it in and play it. If you want to play with your friend you simply ask them to get the mod then host a lobby and play the mod. Your game will not be permanently changed by the mod.

    Hallo people! I dont expect C3 to have a really new engine. Does someone know what engine they use as base? The best one i know is C2, but in that case they have at least to patch bigger maps into the engine or it is senseless. Apart from that every Cossacks will be a success as long as a stable Multiplayer is possible.

    The developpers said it was a totally new engine different from the precedent games. They also said they put a lot of effort to make the game better in multiplayer and modder friendly. The script for gameplay will be written in something akin to Pascal Syntax.
